High Desert Education Service District (aka HDESD) seeks an exceptional educational leader to join us in our mission to improve student outcomes with excellence, equity, and efficiency. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned leader with a strong service orientation, a spirit of innovation, and a proven record of advocacy and collaboration.
HDESD is headquartered in Redmond and situated in the heart of the central Oregon high desert. Here, blue skies and vibrant landscapes set the scene for limitless outdoor activities. But if fishing, hiking, biking, or rafting aren’t on the agenda, enjoy local galleries and vibrant music festivals or theater performances that celebrate the fusion of the area’s art and culture. Nearby Bend - known for its popular food scene - is home to Central Oregon Community College and OSU-Cascades. It’s a great place to live, learn, work, and play!
At HDESD we are focused on the implementation of best practices for educators and our commitment to foster education opportunities from birth to career. The Local Service Plan is developed annually in collaboration with the superintendents in our four component school districts - Bend-LaPine, Crook County, Redmond and Sisters, and school districts in counties east of the Cascades and across the state utilize our vast array of programs and services. Our work is designed to meet regional needs through initiatives that help minimize duplication of services, reserve local budgets, and provide special programs that might otherwise be unavailable. We partner with school districts, Pre-K organizations, higher education, and community agencies to accomplish our vision of being a state leader among Oregon ESD's in the provision of locally responsive, cost-effective, high-quality services.
Candidates who share HDESD’s commitment to equity, inclusion, and accessibility for all students and staff are encouraged to apply. You are invited to read more about the HDESD Next Superintendent Criteria, and you can learn more about Oregon’s ESDs here.
Salary range is from $195,00 to 215,000 DOE as part of a total compensation package. Our vacancy closes at 5pm on February 24, 2024 and our new Superintendent will begin July 1, 2024.
